I enjoyed reading your answers to my simple question. Some of the things you all said you would do are similar things I would have done. I find that I see the good in people before I see the bad. I am always looking for a win-win situation. Thing is, they are not necessarily looking for that. I don’t take too kindly to the whole dictator relationship and I find myself in one of those right now. I see this person intimidating people because they can. What gets me is no one has called them on it. They sit back and take it.
So, I ask, why do we take it? Where is our self-worth? I am not going to take it. I dismissed their crap behavior and prayed for them. That is what I do now when that situation comes up; I pray for the other person. It brings a calm over me that I don’t have to resort to dirty politics to get my point across. I have all the backing I need from the Lord. And, in situations like this, I rely heavily on his council and leading me where I need to be. Thing is, I don’t know if where I am is where I am suppose to be. That makes me sad, but hopeful that there will be resolution soon.

Kristine - I hope this situation is one that can be resolved. My last boss had a dictator attitude. We collided in many ways. I spoke politely to her about her disrespect and yet it continued.
I responded with sarcasm and it only made me look and feel worse.
I documented evidence of her disrespect and presented it to her superiors and they sided with HER. At that point I knew I needed to either accept the way I was being treated or find another place to work- one in which I was valued and treated with some sense of dignity and worth. I moved on and they now continue to treat others with the same disrespect I once received.
mrc1471 - Girl, you are a better person than I. I would love to say I could pray for someone like that, but I think my job as a police dispatcher has really led me down a dark path, when it comes to what I think of people. That’s pretty sad, huh?
