Run

I have been kidding myself for weeks about starting to get in shape. There is no time like the present. Especially when everything about this season makes you want to eat and pack on the pounds. At my job, I am on my behind about 95% of the time. The other five percent, I am walking during my lunch trying to counter the "big ass office syndrome". By the time I get home, last thing I want to do is work out. So, I have decided to move my workouts to early morning. I am talking early…like 4:30.

Being a person who used to workout five days a week for a couple of hours (that included one hour of weight training and one hour of cardio) I can not continue down the path I am going physically. When you pass the age of 30, your body enjoys becoming soft. I think that is why women crave so much sugar when we get older. I had a friend who used to keep sugar packets at her desk in a candy dish. She would down them like candy.

Now, I work with a bunch of fitness junkies in a very male-dominated industry. Instead of feeling the pressure to eat, I feel the pressure to train for a marathon. How can you not feel the pressure? The runners have all this energy and they are…happy. It is like a cult or something. All these happy people bowing down to running. It is crazy, but healthier than other work environments I have been in, on a physically healthy note. Mental and work ethic leave something to be desired, but I digress. I have a feeling I will be running by Spring. They will pull me into their cult…I will run…I will like it. I used to be a runner, so it is in my blood. This is just another one of those "returning to center" moments for me. Going back to the familiar and becoming whole again.

Adrienne - SUGAR PACKETS!?!?!? OMG lol, I have some info I can send you on running. I was going to start before I found out about my illness, but plan on starting as SOON as I get the go ahead from my dr. Maybe we can keep each other encouraged. I get up early like that everyday. It’s THE best time!!!

Charisse - I wish you good luck. It is so hard to start again once you have stopped. I stopped 2 months ago and really need to get back on the ball!
