I am so proud of this series of art journal pages. I don’t usually create my pages in a series, but I wanted to see if I could do it and end up with something I liked. I love how these came out.
I painted over the original background of stenciled flowers because it was too girly for my taste. I like my journal pages to look raw and earthy with lots and lots of layers. There are at least eight layers of acrylic paint and mixed media painting techniques on each page. The black stars and words are rub-ons. They added a nice touch to the page and added depth to the series.
This is why I love mixed media collages and art journals. They allow you to enjoy the process if you allow yourself to enjoy the process. I did not end up with what I originally planned, but I was willing to see where my experimenting with new painting techniques and ideas would take me. When you are open with your art, you can not possible go wrong. Remember, creative accidents are not really accidents if you love what you end up with.

Donna - Oooh – so lovely, messy, grungy, beautiful and absolutely perfect! Just wish I could run my hands over them! Good for you – I wish I could start art journalling – but there is absolutley too much going on inside my head – I can’t seem to isolate one thought to even start journalling about it!
