Is it just me or does seeing Christmas stuff up before Thanksgiving just seem wrong? I understand in the retail world it is all about getting the jump on the competitor, but seriously, can we enjoy one holiday before we move to another?
As much as I love the holiday season, I wish the commercialism would stop. This year, I am all about the handmade gifts and gift cards. I am teaching my kids it is not about the stuff, but the reason for the season is all about praising the Spirit inside yourself.

chris - i totally agree! no christmas/yule stuff goes up in my house until at least December 1st. i am working on homemade gifts too! not all, because sometimes something you see in a store just screams “for that special someone”. i bet your homemade gifts will be stunning!
Avital - I adore your photos. They are always striking a nerve in me.
Avital - PS – and I totally agree to your viewpoint on commercialism.
adrienne - We are doing a lot of homemade gifts this year as well, but my Christmas tree is already up lol. I normally do it the the day after thanksgiving but really wanted to get it up this year lol.
Adrienne - thank god, someone agrees me with me! I walked into work friday and there’s was christmas music blaring!! I said please turn it off wait til after thanksgiving! I was so anal about this, I don’t want to talk about, see, or hear Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. All my sacred cows have been tipped over this year, I guess I just have to deal with it. I even buckled under the pressure and put up my outside lights up because we had warm weather.
Sherry - It IS too early. We seem to have this “push forward” mentality of get to the next place before you’ve even stopped at the one you’re “in”. I’ve learned to live life “in the moment” and so much pre-season bombardment really bugs me. People having lights up now is fine, but having them turned on? You in the U.S. haven’t had Thanksgiving yet, although we have in Canada. BUT…I don’t like to see all of this until about 2 weeks before Christmas. It loses so much of it’s specialness when it’s too soon.
