I resisted the urge to airbrush out a few things and opted to embrace perfect imperfection instead. What better way to take a stand against having to be perfect.
For over a year, I have become more of who I am suppose to be after spending years trying to be someone I was not. I allowed people to make me feel like I was not good enough, when all along, I was enough. There are going to be people who will criticize, lie and say things that are meant to make you feel like crap. It is only when you stop listening to that mess and start loving yourself that things change in your life. People who love you, truly love you, will not want you to change for them. They will not tell you that they doubt they ever loved you. They will love you because you are YOU in all your perfect imperfection.
I hold nothing against those who have hurt me in my past. My past has no place in my future, but forgiveness does. It is because of forgiveness that I have been able to love myself, forgive myself and forgive and love others. None of us is perfect, but we can learn to love perfectly. Perfect love is sacrificial, nurturing and without conditions. Learn to love this way and you will change for the better, forever.
