In Pursuit of Joy

The Morning View
I had settled in for a relaxing drive into work a few mornings ago, only to be greeted by the most beautiful sky. I have spoken before of my sudden fascination with clouds and how I believe there is a message in their simple beauty. This particular morning was no exception.

As this year draws to a close, I find I want to slow my pace. I have been exhausted for most of this year and finally I feel like I am starting to get back to some kind of normal. I was listening to a message today about joy. It said that joy is a lifestyle, not an emotion or feeling. Joy is a powerful working of the heart. When you have joy, nothing and no one can take it away from you. When I am full of joy, it is a happiness I can not completely describe. It makes me smile and laugh and I can not help but want to share it. One of the reasons I love spending time with my little people is they are always full of joy. If ever you are feeling down or having a pity party, find a child to spend some time with…preferably one who likes to ask a lot of questions. Answering their questions will take the focus off of you and instead you will find yourself enraptured by their child-like wonder. I thank my children daily for being in my life. They remind me to not be selfish and that I have a responsibility to be my best me for them. Joy gives me purpose, a goal and a reason to live my best life every single day. This is something I know I can do. I am willing to do it.

Linda C Smith - What a beautiful post. About 11 years ago I constructed a motto for my life: I choose Joy. I believe Joy is a choice, it is something that you desire and reach for and decide to embrace. Like you I find much Joy when I’m with my 3 1/2 year old grandson – the very definition of sheer joy.
