About eight years ago, I started a holiday tradition in my family. The annual cookie party. During the month of December, I bake between ten and fifteen batches of cookies. As my little ones started to get older, it was not as easy to bake that many cookies from scratch, package them and deliver to friends and family in addition to wrapping presents. So, I started the annual cookie party as a way to spend time with my family and friends doing one of the things I love…baking.
Now the cookie party is not all about cookies. If there gifts to be wrapped, this is the time to get all the extra hands to help you wrap. I happen to love wrapping gifts and I know people who can not stand it. We have so many great conversations as we pass around the tape, wrapping paper and ribbons. It is times like this when I feel the most blessed. I am surrounded by people I love, laughing children sneaking cookies as they cool and a house filled with the scent of baked goods, warmth and love. I love this time of year and how it brings people together. I look forward to it every year.
